Job Summary | This position is responsible for strategic and operational responsibilities related to and supervision of staff members carrying out CNC’s web and digital functions including website, student portal, and related content through ongoing maintenance and enhancement of CNC’s visibility, branding, positioning, recruitment and enrollment programs and services, and digital communications. These functions enable the College to optimize student recruitment and retention, promote events and programs, as well as increase the level of brand awareness internally and externally. This position reports to the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications and works closely with the Associate Director of Marketing, Brand, and Creative as part of the leadership group for Communications Services. The incumbent will ensure web and digital functions operate within the structure and scope of an integrated marketing and communications plan cascading from the College’s Strategic Plan. NATURE & SCOPE: • You will be part of a team actively engaged in contributing to and accomplishing the vision, mission, and goals of the College and in supporting the aspirations and needs of our learners. • You will support the goals, strategies and implementation plans specific to website, portal, and digital activities at CNC, advancing the organization as a best-in-class performer among post-secondary institutions in Canada. • You will be responsible for the strategy and leadership of CNC’s digital content and assets, including the website, intranet, and student portal. • You will hold a leadership position within Communications Services and guide the daily activities of staff in these portfolios. • You represent the College on relevant committees and boards. • You play a critical role in the success of CNC’s Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM)activities and may co-chair or hold membership in steering and sub-committees. You will oversee and plan web and portal activities with SEM-related functions across the College, reflective of program, recruitment and retention goals and strategies for the organization. • You will also support web, digital, and content activities related to alumni relations and philanthropic needs in conjunction with other personnel. • Working closely with the Communication Services leadership, you will make recommendations to ensure web and digital activities support the strategic objectives of the College as a whole and those set out in CNC’s integrated marketing and communications strategy. • You will promote a positive work atmosphere by interacting and communicating in a professional manner that demonstrates mutual respect with students and colleagues. |
Specific Duties | • Recruits, develops, advises, supervises, and mentors staff supporting web, digital, and content activities, including photography, videography, and digital tools including but not limited to Chats, Virtual Tours, Webinars, Apps, etc. • Provides guidance and effective leadership on all projects ensuring accurate and timely delivery in a cost-effective manner while meeting project objectives, and consistent with the institutional brand, mission, vision and goals. • Develops and implements the user-interface experience, design, and content strategies for all online digital assets which support student recruitment, enrolment activities and student success. • Manages the short- and long-term strategic planning, design, policies, procedures, and functions of web, digital, video, and photos assets. Works with IT and other stakeholders on technical requirements and server capabilities. • Oversees the execution of content strategy, a new website discovery and implementation, and portal implementation. • Directs content to ensure that all pages adhere to the content strategy on website, digital and social media and other such communications directed at students, internal community, external community members and other internal and external audiences. Works closely with Communications team members to source and create stories for media and advertising and ensures that story telling is coordinated throughout mediums. • Develops and maintains an audit process and works with other departments to confirm the proper procedures are consistently being followed at all times. • Works closely with Deans, Regional Principals, Directors, Program Coordinators, and Recruitment personnel to guide an all-College approach to content, supporting local campus and broader academic program needs within the organization-wide marketing structure. • Contracts with and oversee external agencies and developers responsible for delivery of ongoing web and digital service requirements, special projects and website development and upgrades activities; may delegate activities as required. • In collaboration with the Associate Director, manages and directs staff in the development, implementation and measurement of all websites, digital media, videography/photography initiatives, and ensures quality control of website and digital communications tools to maintain and enhance the image and brand of the College. • Develops, implements, manages, measures, and analyses of website and digital assets. • Provides advice on research, plans, and implementation for effective campaigns. Collaborates with Communications staff and leadership to develop and implement a plan to ensure consistency and training in web and digital copy as well as SEO in ongoing updates. • Contributes to the establishment, review, and re-alignment of key performance indicators with respect to web and on-line activities and audience engagement. • Leads and supports best practices in, and provide guidance and recommendations for web and digital activities supporting student recruitment and retention in an environment of strategic enrolment management. • Evaluate web and digital needs and requests from College departments, and recommend human, financial, and/or consulting resources to effectively meet needs across the organization. • Recommends and oversees the implementation of digital communications strategies to support student recruitment and engagement, as well as employee engagement. • May provide support to media relations activities as required by the Executive Director. • Work with Budget Officers to manage and maximize budgets for web and digital activities. • Serve as a member of committees as appropriate and directed. • Understand and administer the provisions of the collective agreements; serve on bargaining committees as required. • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director. |
Skills & Qualifications | • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, web design, digital marketing, or a related field. • A minimum of five years of relevant and related experience in web design, which includes two years as a leader/manager in multi-stakeholder, consumer-driven marketing, recruitment and/or sales environment. • Experience in content curation or management of complex content structures is considered an asset. • Experience in and a detailed understanding of creative design, web strategy and governance, as well as web analytics. • Experience working with portals and applications. • Proven experience in a SEM environment is a distinct asset, or similar experience in an environment requiring close coordination between marketing activities and operating areas’ objectives. • Post-secondary experience is an asset. • Proven understanding of search engine optimization (SEO), search engine marketing, and customer relationship management (CRM). • A portfolio demonstrating effective management of web and digital assets, including but not limited to research, strategy, campaign objectives, content strategy, SEO, and the establishment and monitoring of key performance indicators, and related project management. • Experience in a unionized environment preferred. • A combination of education, professional experience and on-going professional development may be considered. |
