Job Summary | In collaboration with the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications (the ED), the Donor and Alumni Relations Officer will work with donors to raise funds to benefit students. The incumbent will enjoy building strong relationships with donors, employees and stakeholders in an effort to raise donations for endowment funds, hardship funds, scholarships, bursaries and equipment for students. The incumbent will also support alumni relations activities as required. |
Specific Duties | • Work with donors, internal and external stakeholders, students, faculty and employees to understand students’ financial and equipment needs. • Act as the College’s primary operational contact with donors. • Develop and continuously cultivate and nurture relationships with current and prospective donors. • Work with the ED to create, coordinate, plan and implement fundraising activities. • Manage related budgets and perform cost/benefit analysis on fundraising events and plans to ensure relevance and viability. • Work with the Student Financial Aid and Awards department on annual student awards events and relevant selection, application and other issues related to awards. • Collaborating with donors and program areas on the creation and maintenance of terms and conditions for student awards. • Work with the finance office and donors on “top ups” of endowment awards to support the financial viability of awards. • Work within Communications Services to promote, create and execute fundraising activities at all college campuses and online. • Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop business development initiatives that would include alumni engagement/involvement and/or fundraising/philanthropic components. • Work with internal stakeholders and donors on annual fundraising projects including but not limited to events (EG: golf tournaments), a fundraising calendar, as well as donor stewardship and acknowledgement activities • Develop and maintain services that may include but are not limited to annual giving, major gifts, payroll deductions, and other fundraising initiatives and strategic plans. • Represent the College at relevant internal and external events. • Working with other Communications Services and CNC staff members, develop and maintain social media strategies, email campaigns, publications and other initiatives to remain in contact with and support alumni. • Cultivate relationships with distinguished alumni and communicate their successes. • Develop and maintain events to engage alumni. • Being part of a team actively engaged in contributing to and accomplishing the vision, mission, and goals of the College and supporting the aspirations and needs of students and communities. • Promoting a positive work atmosphere and communicating in a professional manner that demonstrates mutual respect with students and colleagues. • Regularly updating key performance indicators to demonstrate program area performance and improvement. • Other duties as assigned. |
Skills & Qualifications | • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) specializing in Commerce, arts, sciences, education, or a related discipline. • Certified Fundraising Executive designation, or a defined plan to achieving a CFRE designation already in progress. • 3 years or more experience. • Excellent soft skills, or interpersonal skills, and the ability to quickly develop professional relationships with donors, students, employees, industry, stakeholders, etc. • Strong organizational and time management skills. • Excellent communications (both written and verbal) skills. • A fundamental desire to help students reach their goals. • Ability to work well independently. • Demonstrated ability with Microsoft Office Suite including, Excel, Word, email, etc. • Assets include experience with social media communications tools and management software as well as a knowledge of digital marketing approaches • Experience with Raiser’s Edge an asset • Valid class 5 driver’s licence. |
