Job Summary | Reporting to the Associate Dean, this position is responsible for supporting students and faculty in a range of information technology activities including lab set up and take down, and preparation of special units and projects for training to be completed within ITAN Labs. |
Specific Duties | • Configuration and maintenance of computer equipment. • Calibration and maintenance of lab equipment and tools. • Maintain/clean lab and prep areas to meet standard lab conditions. • Design and construct specific lab and test equipment. • Ensure instructional labs and work surfaces maintain standards. • Inventory and maintain levels of parts and supplies. • Inventory capital equipment. • Initiate purchase order requisitions. • Administer database of lab materials and equipment. • Maintains department/program user administration. • Prepare labs for beginning of instructional terms. • Working from specifications prepared by departmental faculty, analyses, designs, documents, develops, debugs and tests software and hardware in support of courses, laboratory assignments and the departmental operation. • Communicates with internal and external suppliers regarding the coordination of repair or warranty issues. • Assists faculty in the preparation of laboratory exercises and student projects. • You will be part of a team actively engaged in contributing to and accomplishing the vision, mission and goals of the College and in supporting the aspirations and needs of our learners and communities. • You will promote a positive work atmosphere and communicate in a professional manner that demonstrates mutual respect with students and colleagues. • Other related duties as assigned by Supervisor. |
Skills & Qualifications | • Completion of a diploma in Information Technology. • 2 years or more of current and related work experience in relevant field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. • Basic knowledge of current microcomputer software/hardware, peripheral and network systems • Ability to set priorities and organize own workload, flexible to changing priorities • High skill level with Microsoft Office applications • Training or experience in desk side support, audio-visual, and video conference technology would be an asset • Have the ability to set priorities and work under pressure • Demonstrated initiative and organizational abilities, and work with minimal supervision • Excellent organizational, judgement, self-initiating and problem-solving skills • Attention to detail and proper documentation • Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills |
