Job Summary
The Line Cook prepares a variety of food items for customers to food safety standards and recipe specifications while ensuring high quality products. This role will support the delivery of food services including on-campus catering activities.

Specific Duties
● Prepares short-order items.
● Performs preparation work for daily menu items, specials/features, and catering activities/events as planned by the Supervisor.
● Supports the Cook in preparation of catering and grab and go items (baked goods, sandwiches, wraps, and other items) based on levels set by the Supervisor.
● Ensures that the food preparation area, kitchen, and appliances are organized, cleaned, and sanitized.
● Assists with receiving, validating, and put away of deliveries of food items and supplies.
● Reports any damage, quantity, and quality issues with shipments to the Supervisor.
● Adheres to standardized recipes and specifications, and portion control guidelines while also maintaining consistency and ensuring high quality products.
● Maintains inventory levels and records of food, equipment, and supplies, and informs the Supervisor of any needs.
● Informs Supervisor when maintenance/repair is needed on any equipment.
● Informs Supervisor of customer suggestions or concerns.
● Responds professionally to customer inquiries and concerns, as required. 
● You will be part of a team actively engaged in contributing to and accomplishing the vision, mission, and goals of the College and in supporting the aspirations and needs of our learners.
● You will promote a positive work atmosphere by interacting and communicating in a professional manner that demonstrates mutual respect with students and colleagues.
● Other related duties as assigned by Director, Food Services Supervisor or designate.

Skills & Qualifications
● Food Safe Level 1 certificate required.
● 2 years or more experience as a prep or line cook
● Ability to work independently and as a member of a team – working harmoniously with others.
● Strong knowledge of proper food handling procedures.
● Organizational skills to work quickly and efficiently, preparing several orders simultaneously.
● Excellent interpersonal/communication skills to provide a high level of customer service.
● Able to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing for extended periods of time, lifting up to 20 lbs.
● Must be able to work independently with minimum of supervision.
