Job Summary
The School of University Studies & Career Access requires a full-time instructor for the Natural Resources and Forest Technology (NRFT) program. Successful completion of the probationary appointment will result in a regular full-time appointment. The responsibilities will be primarily teaching with secondary duties of applied research. Areas taught will have a core forestry focus but could include the full spectrum of courses delivered within the NRFT program.

The successful applicant will have a strong background in applied, field-based forest resource technology, and bring a capability and interest in conducting applied research for industry, government and Aboriginal peoples in forest-based natural resources.
Skills & Qualifications
• A minimum of a Master’s degree in forestry or natural resource management or equivalent,
• Strong field-based technical abilities and extensive forestry experience that specifically includes forest measurements and associated statistical analysis;
• Teaching experience at the post-secondary level or in adult learning environment;
• Registered as a Registered Professional Forester;
• Experience with applied research in the natural resource sector;
• Physically able to conduct instructional duties in a forest setting; and
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• At least 5 years of experience working in the forest sector;
• Active in the natural resource management community such as through the Association of BC Forest Professionals, Canadian Institute of Forestry, College of Applied Biologists, or BC Institute of Agrologists;
• Supervisory experience; and
• Capability in Geographic Information Systems and adoption of new technology in forestry.

Hiring criteria shall include professional qualifications, professional experience, teaching experience, college contributions, community awareness and personal attributes so far as they are applicable to the job classification in question.
Salary $73,879 - $ 87,659 Commensurates with qualifications and relevant experience
